Herbal Medicine Workshops – a series of four workshops

Herbal medicine has been used for thousands of years with knowledge passed on from generation to generation. In both world wars, valerian root was used to calm the nerves of citizens during bombings and garlic used by communities to fight respiratory infections or clean wounds. Many modern medicines we know today are derived from plant compounds. For example, aspirin was discovered from willow tree bark in the 1800s, and more recently, psilocybin from mushrooms is currently being researched in trials for treatment-resistant depression. Join Kat Green, registered medical herbalist, on how to incorporate benefits of medicinal plants in your life over the seasons – and make your own products to heal, protect and nourish.

Autumn is the perfect time to start nurturing a fire cider in preparation for winter wellness. Make your own 500ml fire cider; a warming folk recipe with immune-supporting properties to help ward off coughs and colds. Learn about each of the ingredients’ medicinal properties and how they can be used to support our health in winter. Ginger, chilli garlic and a few other allies are steeped in apple cider vinegar to extract their constituents. Tastes delicious, too!
