An evening of Rumi: Poetry, Presence & Remembrance

You are warmly invited to an evening inspired by the timeless poetry of Rumi — a space to slow down, soften, and gather in the shared language of the heart.

Through spoken verse, gentle moments of reflection, and simple embodied practices, we will explore the themes that run like golden threads through Rumi’s work: love, longing, surrender, and the remembrance of what is most true within us.

We’ll begin by settling into the atmosphere together, getting comfy on chairs or snuggly on cushions to listen to Rumi’s words, allowing them to land in their own way. From there, we’ll be guided into a period of Sohbet (shared reflection) — a quiet, heart-led conversation where listening is as valued as speaking, and where wisdom arises through presence and connection.

As the evening unfolds, we’ll be invited into a  Zikr (gentle rhythmic body prayer using breath and sound) — an ancient and universal way of calming the mind and returning to the heart. Participation is always optional; you’re welcome to join in aloud, softly, or simply receive the vibration and rest in the experience.

These practices are rooted in the Sufi tradition from which Rumi wrote, yet they are offered in a way that is open, inclusive, and accessible to all. No prior experience, belief system, or religious background is needed — only a willingness to listen, feel, and be.

This is an evening for those who love poetry, for those curious about contemplative practices, and for anyone longing for a sense of connection, depth, and gentle remembrance in a busy world.

Come as you are.
Listen as you wish.
Take from the evening whatever nourishes your heart.

Refreshments will be freely available throughout the evening.

Children are very welcome to come along at no charge.
