DESCRIPTION:Community is very important to us at Om and we would like to share a little of what we do here to our wider community that may not have the financial means or the time to come to a regular class.\nWe are offering a pay as you feel class the 2nd Friday of every month. Children\, parents\, and even grandparents get to enjoy practicing yoga together and strengthen their bonds while they support each other and have fun. \nThe Importance of Play \nIn the constant struggle to juggle all of the responsibilities with the numerous things parents need to do to care for their children we often overlook one of the most important thing we can do for our children and that is quality time spent with them. Having a good conversation\, chat with them -no matter the age children love sharing their stories\, playing with them\, moving around with them\, crafting with them or just relaxing with them. Children love attention and when this attention is given by spending quality time together is priceless. \nFamily yoga teaches parents how to play with their children\, how to talk about important stuff such as feelings and emotions\, also how to relax with them. \nBridging The Gap \nFamily yoga is very special; it is a rare opportunity for both parents and children to observe and learn from each other and a great way to bridge the  age difference between them. \nWhile playing yoga together as a family\, we exchange roles a lot. For example\, while doing Dog Pose\, parents\, who are usually the leaders\, get to be led on a dog walk by their children. Children\, who are usually the receivers\, get to give to their parents when they massage them while in relaxation. \n\nParents get to see how their children learn and how they interact with other children and adults. And children get to see their parents as learners\, something that doesn’t happen very often\, setting a great example for their children.\nUntil a certain age children think that their parents are superhuman; that they never get tired\, never run out of time or money\, and that there is nothing that they can’t do. It is good for the children to realize that their parents are not perfect.\nThere are many poses that the children can do and the parents can’t\, and some activities that the children can do better than the parents. This humanizes the parent and eases the pressure that their children’s expectations can create.\n\nIn addition to all of the other great benefits of yoga\, all of these gestures help to relieve tension in the parent/child relationship.

DESCRIPTION:Community Yoga Class\nCome along to our Subsidised Community Yoga Class at Om with Lindsey on Tuesdays . \nThis class is subsidised by Oms Foundation to make yoga more accessible for people who would find it a challenge to pay for a full price class. \nFurther concessions are available if needed. \nThis 75 minute class is suitable for all abilities\, ages and levels of yoga experience. Students will be gently guided through a mindful yoga /movement practice that includes time for relaxation and breath awarenss. The class encourages and supports students to progress at their own pace and take alternatives to suit their own needs. \nYoga’s benefit for our emotional\, mental and physical health and well-being are proven and this class provides a safe space and opportunity to explore them. Regular participation in a yoga class enables us to explore its various techniques and can support us to adjust to and manage the many changes in our lives. Many participants find that yoga can be a great complement to managing physical\, mental and emotional health issues alongside regular treatment from their G.P / qualified health professional. Often\, people find yoga beneficial for helping to manage chronic pain\, stress\, anxiety/depression\, fatigue/overwhelm\, sleep difficulties etc as well as helping to improve self-esteem\, confidence and reduce feelings of isolation. DESCRIPTION:A weekly Hatha yoga class for those who are wanting to slow down and find a quiet space in which to move\, breathe and be. We will explore movements and yoga postures mindfully in order to develop greater awareness of how we move and breathe\, so that we can gradually find more helpful ways of moving and being in our bodies.\nThe class will include plenty of time in supine (lying down) to begin with\, exploring warming and releasing movements\, before moving on to more strengthening postures on all fours and in standing. Modifications and alternatives are offered for anybody working with an injury or limitation. \nThe class draws on a wide range of hatha yoga practices\, including active and restorative yoga postures\, breathing practices and meditation. We will then begin to gently warm up the body\, move into mindful standing sequences and balance and then come back down to the mat for some floor poses\, pranayama\, meditation and deep relaxation. \nI believe yoga should bring a sense of joy\, be accessible to all and be both energising and relaxing.\nMy type of yoga is kind. It’s not about making shapes on a mat but about how you feel in body\, mind and spirit. It’s about holding space to let go of what may be weighing us down and connect to our inner stillness.
